Terms of use
Last updated October 24, 2026
Lyrext lets you send a moment of a song, with the words being sung and the artwork, as a link that plays where it lands. Lyrext is run by TODO operator name in British Columbia, Canada ("we"). By using Lyrext on the web, Android or iOS, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Who can use Lyrext
You need to be 13 or older. If you're under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian needs to agree to these terms for you.
Your account
- You can create and send lyrexts without an account. Signing in keeps them, and moves the lyrexts you created on that device to your account.
- You sign in with Google. Keep that account secure; anything done while signed in as you is your responsibility.
- Pick a handle and name that don't pretend to be someone else, or a brand or artist you don't represent. We may change or reclaim a handle that does.
Your lyrexts
The words you type, the tags you add and any audio file you upload are yours, or belong to whoever owns them. We don't claim ownership. So that Lyrext can work, you give us a worldwide, free, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, show and play what you contribute, to make link preview cards from it, and to let others play and send it. This licence ends when you remove the lyrext or delete your account, except for copies other people already saved or sent, which we can't recall.
- Public lyrexts show up in Browse for anyone. Link only lyrexts don't, but play for anyone who has the link, and links can be passed on.
- You can remove your lyrexts at any time from My lyrexts. Their links then stop playing.
- You are responsible for what you create and send, and for having the right to share it.
The music
- Song lyrexts play a moment of the song's official 30 second preview, provided courtesy of Apple, streamed from Apple each time. We don't copy or store it.
- The songs, recordings, artwork and words being sung belong to the artists, songwriters, labels and publishers who own them. Lyrext is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple or any artist or label, unless we say so.
- Links to listen to the full song take you to the music service, under its own terms. Some of these links may earn Lyrext a commission; they pass on nothing about you.
- File lyrexts are created from an audio file you upload. Only upload audio you have the right to share. We keep only the moment you picked and throw the rest of the file away.
Community rules
Follow the community rules. We may remove lyrexts, change handles, or suspend or close accounts that break them or these terms, or that we're legally required to act on. Where it's practical and safe, we'll tell you why.
Copyright
We respect copyright and expect you to. If you believe a lyrext infringes your copyright, see copyright notices. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.
Lyrext itself
The Lyrext name, logo, apps and site are ours. Don't copy them, scrape Lyrext in bulk, get around limits we set, interfere with the service, or use it to break the law.
Free, and early
Lyrext is free and still early. Features will change, and some may go away. We may add paid features later; they'll come with their own clearly stated prices and terms, and nothing you already use will start charging without you choosing it.
No guarantees
Lyrext is provided as it is and as available. Songs, previews and links come from third parties and can stop working. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for what other people create and send, and our total liability to you is limited to $100 (Canadian). Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
Ending things
You can stop using Lyrext and ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing TODO@example.com. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms.
Changes to these terms
We'll post changes here and update the date above. If a change matters, we'll also say so in Lyrext before it takes effect. Using Lyrext after that means you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and of Canada that apply there. If you live somewhere whose laws give you the right to bring a claim at home, you keep that right.
